Jesse Lee ASP At Home

We had a terrific week helping local families with home repairs! We had two crews working at two different homes. One home was in Bethel and the other in Redding. At one home we removed lots of yard debris (brush and large pieces of trees); rejuvenated a crumbling patio; helped improve an asphalt driveway and replaced some broken siding shingles.

At the other site, we added much needed supports beneath a deck; removed all the old decking (the surface on which you walk) and replaced it with new decking; removed a dumpster of old metal appliances and other things from the yard; filled a second dumpster with other stuff. We gave a facelift to two garage doors and painted the trim on the front of the house. The homeowners were very appreciative our of our help. These repairs had gotten away from them over recent year with health issues. We were happy to make a difference!

Each day, one crew would leave its worksite and go work on a wheelchair ramp. We relied on the guidance of the Jesse Lee volunteer group called the Spirit Builders. Together, we took down a large ramp that was no longer needed at a home in Bethel after the recipient passed away. Those ramp sections were repurposed to build two other ramps in South Salem; one at a private home and the other will serve a new community center. It felt good to help others.

Look for information here in late January to work with us next summer!
